  • A message from Ms. Shelby, Nursing Assistant

Ms. Shelby wants you to stay healthy, active and happy!

Always eat a nutritional breakfast.  Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!  One way to get active and get a good breakfast is walking to Miller or another designated stop for a grab and go meal daily (with permission from your parents).  While walking, try a scavenger hunt but be sure to keep your distance from others.

    Items to look for:

*Bird.   *Someone riding a bike.   *Someone walking a dog.   *A house with a red door.   *Orange flowers.   *School bus

*House with a wooden fence.   *White car.   *Tree with yellow leaves

  • Library News - Overdues and Fines
If you have any library books or textbooks checked out during the school closures, they may start showing as lost fines in your account.  The library/textbook catalog system has no way of extending the checkout period beyond the school closures.  DO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT.  Fines will disappear off your accounts once school resumes and the books are checked back in to our system.  Please note that if you had fines or overdue books before the school closure, those will not be erased from the system.
  • Schools closed through end of this school year.

Principal's Message

  • Principal's Message
    Dear Miller Community,

What a way to end our school year!  The global pandemic has changed how we interact with each other and we have learned new safety procedures to keep everyone safe and healthy.  Although we are ending our school year the normal way, we continue to find ourselves grateful and gain a deeper appreciation for what we do have in our lives.

I'd like to give a special shout out to our 5th graders as they have a very special place in my heart because they are the class that came in with me when I started my career at Miller.  I am privileged to have seen these kids grow from curious 5 year olds to independent pre-teens.

Last, I'd like to thank everyone for their hard work throughout the school year.  It hasn't been the easiest but we made it through and I can honestly say I have learned so much from everyone.  I am honored to be your principal, and a Miller Mustang.  Best wishes to all of you and have a safe and happy summer break.

    Sincerely,

    Maricella Carranza, M. Ed.

    Principal

What Makes Us Special

Miller Elementary is committed to maintaining a positive learning community where students develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for contributing to a multi-cultural society.

Teachers use arts and technology as tools to help connect with children. The Opening Minds through the Arts (OMA) program incorporates language arts, math, social studies and science into visual and performing arts programs. Every class has access to an interactive electronic response system that teachers can use to gather student opinions and generate discussion topics.

Miller also values parent and community involvement. The school has community representatives who encourage parents to be involved in the school, and families are invited to monthly meetings on topics that relate to their children’s education.
