  • Principal's Message for November 2017
    Dear Miller Community,

     

    It is November and this school year is going by so quickly, pretty soon it will be Winter break!  November is the beginning of the holiday season and we have a few days off to note.  First, Friday November 10th is Veteran's Day.  November 23rd and 24th is our Thanksgiving Break.  For these three days, there is no school.  We hope you enjoy the time with your families.

     

    With that said, we do understand that with the weather change kids get sick and emergencies happen.  If your child is sick please keep them home so that the illness doesn't spread.  If your child has a fever or is vomiting they need to be clear of both for 24 hours (without medication) before returning to school.

     

    This month our 5th graders will be visiting their middle school feeder schools (Valencia and Pistor) so they can get a small taste of middle school life.  We have a Kindergarten field trip to Sabino Canyon at the end of the month.  We will also have a couple of fundraisers put on by our PTO and spirit week where we will be celebrating Mickey Mouse's birthday.  Please be on the look out for important notices going home or parent link messages on your phones.

What Makes Us Special
Miller Elementary is committed to maintaining a positive learning community where students develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for contributing to a multi-cultural society.

Teachers use arts and technology as tools to help connect with children. The Opening Minds through the Arts (OMA) program incorporates language arts, math, social studies and science into visual and performing arts programs. Every class has access to an interactive electronic response system that teachers can use to gather student opinions and generate discussion topics.

Miller also values parent and community involvement. The school has community representatives who encourage parents to be involved in the school, and families are invited to monthly meetings on topics that relate to their children’s education.

School Hours and Student Drop off
  • School Hours
    School begins at 8:20 am every weekday.

    School ends at 2:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

    Wednesday dismissal is at 1:30 pm.

  • Parent Drop-off and Pick up
    Please drop off your student in the designated drop off area of campus:

    Located on the northeast side of campus (by the 4th grade building).  

    Please pull up as far as you can so we can fit as many cars as possible.

    The flagpole is not a drop off or pick up zone.

    It creates traffic issues and there is no monitor to ensure student safety.
